Greystone Bar and Cellar

Riding on the popularity of wine bars and tapas menus in recent years, Greystone is a slightly more up-market addition to South Bank. A modern bar and restaurant that doubles as a miniature cellar/bottle shop, most of the seating is on black cafe chairs and red lounges arranged outside on the covered walkway between the parklands and Little Stanley Street. Indoors has more of an after-dark feel, with an attractive red and gunmetal colour scheme, a long bar and a few plush, elephant grey lounges tucked into one corner. The “cellar” part consists of an attractively arranged collection of well-stocked wine racks and neatly stacked cartons of premium beer.

Greystone has two specialities: tapas and cocktails. We suggest trying to find a healthy balance between them both. The menu is relatively compact but fairly diverse. Diners looking for authentic Castillian flavours or innovative mod-snacks will have to re-think their plans, but everything is simple, fresh and enjoyable. Try the Thai scallops with chilli plum sauce and the garlic and rosemary lamb skewers with charred vegetables on tomato concasse. Anything from the cellar can be opened and enjoyed at the venue and, with over 150 bottles available, even the fussiest wine drinker will be spoiled for choice.
