Brunswick Street is home to some truly unique restaurants that offer many diverse dining experiences. Codpiece is no exception to the rule and brings a distinctive and customer-friendly style of dining to the fore. Codpiece was born from the owner’s desire to open a traditional English-style fish and chippery. The interior is very well designed and spaced, with a marvellous sculpture of a school of fish adorning the back wall. The menu is comprised of three core areas: entrees, mains and seafood. The seafood department is obviously the most popular stop and gives you, the diner, the chance to create your own masterpiece. Simply choose your favourite fish and your preferred method of cooking, such as beer-battered, panko-crumbed or grilled, and then it’s simply a matter of accompaniments. Decide between a delicious array of salads which include Asian herb, coleslaw or the codpiece special which changes daily. Finally, take your pick of sauce from marie-rose, tartare, codpiece aioli, nham jim or salsa verde, and Bob’s your uncle – lunch!


Diners return to try different combinations or the constantly changing $8 tapas dishes which are available on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm. But while you’re there, make sure you try one of Codpiece’s signature entree dishes of Queensland barramundi and sand-crab cakes with Asian salad herbs and nham jim. These little morsels are fantastic, to say the least, and offer a refreshing and vibrant flavour combination, with a hint of sweetness from the sauce. Codpiece is indeed worth the experience, and with its endlessly flexible menu, you will want to eat here more than once.
