Introducing dessert wonderland, Caffe E Gelato Milany offers ultimate, genuine, original homemade Italian gelato, coffee and cafe fare. This is directed at your inner kid, so do away with the adult exterior, bring out your youthful soul and order what you like. Skip past responsible savoury dishes – the 30-plus flavours of gelato (all made on premises with no artificial flavours or preservatives) are far more awe-inspiring. And they are embellished with all sorts of delicious trappings to shape the creme-de-la-creme of sundaes. The banana split with a banana base, triple ice-cream centre, whipped cream roof and mascarpone cheery top is a perfect example of what “Milany” is all about. The red berry cocktail; a delightful mountain of gelato and sorbets, finished with a selection of berries, cream and gourmet toppings also leaves very little to be desired.

The cafe itself is a pretty number with a large alfresco eating area. It’s as classical and sweet as the bays of alluring gelato and sorbet lining the far wall. If you’re not yet committed to the cause, there’s a yummy yoghurt cocktail with slices of fresh fruit. The gelato and Baileys delight had me at hello, while a selection of coffee makes the perfect partner to mini Dutch pancakes or Belgium waffles. There are more substantial things on offer as well, for those of you who want to rain on the dessert parade. Pick from one of the tasty gourmet toasted sandwiches like the Greek savory with fetta, Kalamata olives, capsicum, tomato and oregano. The best way to do it? Order a big chilled glass ice-cream bowl of all your favourites, swing your feet under your chair and smile like a toothless six year old.
