On the grounds of Brisbane’s most splendid hotel is this very civilised buffet, where folks are not apt to pig out, but rather sip their cognac and gaze over the terraced gardens and the lazy Brisbane River. Indoors, under the high hotel ceilings are gloriously comfortable upholstered chairs, metres of mirror panelling, silver buffet platters atop polished counters, and tables draped in white linen. During the day, most diners prefer to sit outdoors in the marquee, soaking up the views on comfortable cane chairs, while the waiters ferry them drinks from the wine buffet.
This is as good a buffet as you’ll find. The seafood is fresh and flavoursome, and there’s an inventive selection of salads, hot meals, an Asian noodle bar, carvery meats, and an array of beautiful cakes and tarts. In addition there’s a broad a la carte menu including smoked salmon with whipped brie, and almond crusted venison loin with parsnip mash, wilted spinach, and orange sauce. The afternoon High Tea (including chocolate high tea on Saturday to Sunday) has proved to be a popular inclusion, and with the Stamford’s old-fashioned elegance setting the mood, this is certainly the venue for it.

With a gorgeous outlook over the river, the Stamford Plaza's Brasserie is a great location for long outdoor lunches and high tea in the beautifully landscaped terrace. You can also sit in the spacious indoor dining area and enjoy the view through the glass walls.
The Brasserie’s breakfast buffet operates from 6 am, featuring a full selection of tempting hot and cold breakfast favourites and fresh tropical fruit.During the day, stylish breakfasts give way to delicious lunches, and leisurely afternoon teas from Monday to Friday, 3pm to 5pm. Chocolate High Tea is available Saturday and Sunday, also from 3pm to 5pm. As the evening draws on and the mood of the river changes once more, romantic dinners take centre stage. As well as a la carte choices, a well-stocked buffet lunch and dinner is available daily, with a different theme each month and accompanied by a sizzling Asian Noodle Station.

Friday and Saturday evenings are celebrated with a deluxe seafood buffet that includes spanner crabs and Moreton Bay bugs.
