Quirky and intimate, Blowfly has been designed to showcase the simplicity and rawness of a woolshed and the comfort and warmth of the humble Queenslander. With top quality steaks courtesy of Kumamoto, Blowfly refuses to skimp on quality, assuring your flame-grilled barbecue meal is anything but the best. The high ceilings, soft lighting and plush lounges inside are matched by a backyard and verandah outside which is made complete with a white picket fence. Blowfly is committed to providing quality local produce, sourcing all ingredients from neighbouring farmers. With that in mind, there is also a weekly vegetarian special, and the fish of the day changes according to the catch of the day. Sundays see Blowfly offering a barbecue with $3 sausage sandwiches and $14 steaks which come with a sausage, salads and a bread roll.
But it’s not just about the food at Blowfly. With Aussie flavoured cocktails, Ben Howe is putting his knowledge to the good use, making simply amazing concoctions with names to match. The Bush Bloody Mary, Outback Margarita, Little Ripper and the Jumbuck are just a few you’ll see, featuring flavours like pepper berry, Murray River salt, lemon myrtle, wattle seed powder and finger lime juice. If this still hasn’t got you sold on Australiana, the coffee is a sustainable blend, and Blowfly is the first to be serving it. All meals can be altered for children and those with special dietary requirements, but the cooking style is low on fat and high on style so for those simply calorie conscious, it’s perfect.
