Much loved and renowed Brisbane French restaraunt, Baguette, has recently undergone a breathtaking refurbishment which has turned this iconic eatery into a classic-yet-modern French bistro. Slated black marble floors, stylish black-patterned light pendants, rustic mirrored French doors and art deco French tapestries create a distinct French style, while behind-the-scenes touches – lighting, acoustics, music, flora – have been perfected to give the space an ambience of chic sophistication. The restaurant has also added a contemporary French cuisine focus (the kind which is also currently being explored at top European restaurants) into the mix giving the Baguette kitchen a cutting-edge appeal.
Chef Graham Waddell, who has worked his magic in some of the United Kingdom’s most affluent restaurants and trained for three years under the wings of highly regarded Bruno Loubet, has promisingly been handed the reins of Baguette’s famous kitchen. The result is a fluidly seasonal menu with a modern and traditional embrace of French cuisine. As popular as ever, the grill selection with the finest Australian-sourced meats is completed with a personal selection of sauces and sides. With a touch of elegance, Baguette still delicately crafts all of its own desserts from souffles, creme brulee, crepes Suzette, and fruit tarts to amazing homemade ice-cream and sorbet. Bringing another element of tradition to the mix, the Domenech family has given the management of their life’s work over to the professional craftsmanship of son Geoff. Their passion, too, has been passed down, ensuing high quality service, consistently great dining and a much-loved personal touch which guest have come to expect.
