PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAIf you are looking for good fun, great service and yummy food, then Ahmets is the place to be. Located across the park from Brisbane’s busiest entertaining suburb, Ahmets has been entertaining and satisfying customers for over five years. Whether you are seeking a quiet midday meal laying back among the decorative cushions and overlooking the scenic view, or are intent on a function complete with entertainment, Ahmets can cater for every need. This large restaurant is a feast for the eyes, decorated with Turkish paintings, murals, carpets, cushions and, if you’re lucky, the odd belly dancer. In fact, Friday and Saturday nights produce an atmosphere that has to be seen to be believed.
Ahmets not only prides itself on creating a great atmosphere, but also on producing fine food with traditional Turkish dishes. Try the guvec: a slow cooked clay pot casserole where lamb, chicken, or prawn is slow cooked with eggplant, zucchini, onion, potato, capsicum, mushroom, carrot and garlic (there is also a vegetarian option). Don’t overlook the traditional pide (Ahmets kusbasi special pide is a personal favourite, made with succulent baby lamb, sweet chilli, roasted capsicum pesto, onion, parsley, and garlic with special herbs and spices). Finish the meal with a dessert platter of baklava and Turkish delight.
