PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAPark Road in Milton is one of Brisbane’s favourite lunch strips. Boasting some great cafes and restaurants, this mecca for the metropolitan man is a bustling main street during lunch. 16th on Park nestles in just at the bottom of Park Road. One of the first things that grabbed me about the cafe is that they roast their own coffee. Their house roast is called Espresso Venezia and won first prize in the City News coffee competition. Seating up to 120 people, 16th on Park impresses with a contemporary interior design that is stylish without being obnoxious. The restaurant is fully licensed and also offers BYO for wine only. Functions are a weekly occurrence with corporates opting for the comfort of the restaurant for meetings.
On the menu are a variety of dishes well-suited to the busy cafe lunch crowd, as well as some great meals for a more laid back evening in the restaurant. The Surf and Turf is a delightful rib fillet steak with charred Moreton Bay bug tails served on garlic mash with creamy asparagus sauce. Also a winner is the prosciutto-wrapped pork loin, and the lamb rump. I would recommend checking out this little gem in Park Road, if not for anything more than to try the incredibly fresh coffee. You can certainly taste the difference with a good brew when the beans have been roasted only 24 hours before. Plus the staff are friendly, and the food is moderately priced, complementing the restaurant as a whole.
