Tommo’s offers a taste of the real thing – yep, croc-in-a-pie – but there’s no truth to the rumour that you choose your own specimen from next door’s Cage of Death! Tommo’s first Darwin city outlet is beside Crocosaurus Cove with its live display of saltwater crocs, and for “true Territory tucker” is seems there’s no pie like a homemade Tommo’s Pie. Tommo’s serves the usual suspects (steak, chicken curry, vegie, etc) along with its more exotic pies. So fortify yourself for the Cage of Death or revive yourself after the thrill. This small, quirky eatery with funky seating and a dash of Top End humour will win the hearts of your kids, and (crocs aside) it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Tommo’s is a 100% Aussie-owned Territory business and prides itself on using cholesterol- and trans-free margarines to produce a flaky pastry that’s virtually free of unhealthy fats. Watch out for the Thai chicken pie (spicy), the “Ned Kelly”, “roo”, and “buffalo”. All steak pies use Australian beef. Think you can do one better? The Design Your Own Pie manoeuvre lets fans suggest their own recipe. If Tommo’s thinks it’s a winner they’ll produce it for a month to see how the rest of the NT takes to it and you get to name it! Convenient for Top End visitors and popular with locals who carry the repeat offender loyalty card, Tommo’s also serves Arabica bean coffee and sweet treats.
