PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIAAll functional concrete, metal and glass with dramatic artworks and designer lighting, The Office Espresso Bar and Gelatoria is a newly opened eatery in Darwin’s busy CBD. The cool interior with its high ceilings and spacious ambience is a welcome retreat from the baking heat of Darwin streets, not to mention office-induced stress and the monotony of the computer screen. Shaded outdoor tables are available if you prefer to catch the breeze with an early morning Vittoria coffee or pre-work eggs Benedict. The Office opens at 7am, well in time for brekkie or a quick pick-me-up before the office grind, and closes at 3pm.
The Office presents a simple but elegant menu. Proprietors Lynda Valentine and Will Floeck have an established reputation based on Cornucopia Cafe in the gardens of the Northern Territory Museum and Art Gallery. The signature dish is the raw energy salad. Other lunch options include fresh sandwiches, open grills on pane di casa, tandoori chicken, and smoked salmon salad. Thick-cut white and multigrain breads are available, plus gluten free and spelt. The Office allows BYO and is a pleasant and quiet space for a business lunch. Try a freshly squeezed juice, T2 tea, or scrumptious cake for morning or afternoon tea. The iced chocolate is particularly decadent, its creamy tower topped with a crunchy chocolate wafer. Pre-made baguettes and Danishes are available to takeaway.
