Skycity Darwin’s Sunset Restaurant lives true to its name; visit at dusk and you can watch the red sun drop gorgeously into the Arafura Sea from your outdoor table. Indoors is refreshingly air-conditioned and looks out onto the blue expanse of pool, umbrellas and tropical palms along the beach line. The Sunset Restaurant has had a makeover in recent months with new buffet facilities and contemporary dining settings, and now caters for over 250 guests. Popular for its excellent value buffet spreads, the venue is perfect for celebrations, business lunches, family occasions or simply a chat with friends.

The impressive buffets begin with breakfast which includes a range of hot and cold options, juice, coffee, fruit, toast, croissants and mini Danish pastries. Lunch is equally varied with salads, breads, hot dishes and a carvery. The cous cous salad is fragrant and light, the roasted pumpkin flavoursome, and the chicken eggplant curry is a winner with basmati rice. Lasagne, quiche, and mix and match pasta and sauces are also served. Leave space for dessert such as the frothy tiramisu, shiny red jelly chunks (the kids love these), decadent caramel squares or a healthy fruit salad. Soft drink, iced water and coffee are included in the price, and guests can buy stronger stuff from the adjoining bar.
