Salvatore’s mixes Italiano-style home cooking with café fare and a touch of the Top End. The pleasantly air-conditioned bistro and al fresco seating cater for all of Darwin’s weather conditions of pleasantly hot, steamy hot, and stormy hot. Darwin diners flock to the restaurant to relax in the sleek interior for some of the best coffee in town. Corporates drop in for their morning espressos, new mums relax over a cool post-shopping affogato, and couples enjoy a leisurely sundowner before a hearty dinner.

Sean Johnston has operated Salvatore’s since its 1997 launch, and developed it into the fondly-regarded Darwin institution. Baristas are personally trained to serve expert, speedy and consistent coffees made with Salvatore’s signature, roasted blend. Colourful fruit salads share the menu with wholehearted brekkies that are topped off with Italian sausage – especially appreciated by diners needing the extra energy. Creamy pastas, gourmet pizzas, generous burgers are all enjoyed throughout the day as the diners come and go while many attend specifically for ‘Darwin’s Best’ caesar salad. The oven-baked barramundi soaks up garlic lemon butter and should also be famed through the region. Salvatore’s personality carries from the staff and all the way through the menu making it a pleasant place for families and friends.
