Roma Bar

The Roma Bar is a Darwin institution that attracts an eclectic range of patrons from taxi drivers, public servants and tradesmen to lawyers, politicians, musicians and visiting celebrities. Also known as the Rumour Bar, the cafe offers a versatile daytime venue that serves good coffee, a range of loose teas as well as freshly squeezed orange juice and an extensive range of premium soft drinks. There is plenty of reading material provided including the local daily tabloid, Guardian Weekly, indigenous newspapers and a range of food and art magazines.

The breakfast menu includes popular favourites such as omelettes, bacon and eggs, pancakes, homemade muesli, fresh fruit salads as well as a classic Indian spread of dhal, roti, yogurt and pickles. Daily lunch specials focus on seasonal local produce including seafood and warm Asian salads along with a range of fresh pastas served with foccacia and a selection of gourmet sandwiches. Vegetarians are well catered for and the Roma Bar serves one of the best hamburgers in town, complete with all the trimmings. There is a large shaded veranda area outside with bench tables and plenty of seating inside for those who like air-conditioning.
