LOCATIONTen-minute drive from the city at East Point.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTSPeewee’s at the Point sits in seclusion among the greenery of beautiful East Point Reserve. Built on the 1911 defence forces site, Pee Wee Camp, it’s listed on the NT Heritage Register. The unusual architectural design of the complex opens onto a wide patio and lawns that border a tiny beach. It’s an exquisite spot to watch sundown on the bay and city lights reflect across the darkening sea. In fact it’d be a challenge to find a more romantic setting for an intimate dinner. So if you’re after water views, divine wines and a true taste of the Territory, book at once – this place is popular!
Fresh-baked bread is an excellent appetiser – try Puglises sourdough (warm, crusty, springy) with wattleseed butter and bush tomato relish. This will tide you over till your paperbark smoked chicken, fancy-cooked duck, or lamb rump – guaranteed to be beautifully presented and flavoured – arrives. There’s a strong focus on fresh local seafood – oysters, goldband snapper and panroasted barramundi with sea urchin butter. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are also well-catered for. A side-dish with your main is a good move – try the wild garlic and potato puree. For dessert lovers, a tasting plate is a brilliant solution to a difficult choice – this way you can savour not only a vanilla green tea mini creme brulee, but the tang of wild hibiscus frozen parfait, and the decadence of Peewee’s specialty, the chocolate “slut”. Tasting plate options vary on the night and are sensational. If you’d like to share the experience, Peewee’s can cater for large corporate functions, parties and weddings.
