Ming Court is a well established and much-liked institution amongst Darwin’s long term locals, who will have witnessed it move around the city in the decades it’s been operating, and have happily moved along with it. The latest location for the restaurant is in the northern suburb of Jingili and, despite the small dining room, it still puts out top notch Chinese food that’s fresh and delicious. The staff are doting and chatty, and chances are you’ll be served by the elderly owners who have a friendly smile permanently fixed on their faces, and are always up for a chat.
The food speaks loudest though at Ming Court, with a huge menu boasting beef, pork, chicken, vegetarian and seafood delights. Make sure you try the chef’s special wok-fried bugs in garlic and chilli and you can’t go past the deep fried ice-cream for dessert. Perhaps the most significant addition to the menu in the time that Ming Court has been at Jingili is its range of incredible gourmet and oriental pizzas, boasting Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and Mediterranean inspired toppings – amongst a plethora of other flavours – that are hugely popular. Friday and Saturday nights are packed to bursting point at Ming Court so booking ahead is a wise move.
