Go Sushi Train

Established by local restaurateurs, Toshi and Theo Manolas, the Go Sushi Train was Darwin’s first sushi restaurant. Well positioned in the heart of the CBD, this establishment remains popular because of its consistent high quality, friendly service and use of authentic Japanese ingredients. The interior is compact with nine small tables and seating for about 25 on stools at the counter surrounding the sushi train. Decor is simple and elegant, with black and red walls with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides that provide a sense of additional space and extra light. The kitchen is open, so guests can see the Japanese chefs working on the preparation of the sushi and dishes made to order.

The sushi menu offers a large range of seafood including smoked eel, fresh tuna and salmon, mackerel, octopus, fish roe, raw prawns, scallops and clams. Vegetarians are well catered for with miso, fried bean curd, a vegetable tempura udon and a range of sushi with cucumber, avocado, pickled radish, seaweed and fermented soya bean. Their small but excellent drinks menu includes quality wines by the glass, beers, soft drinks and Japanese beverages including green tea, saki and Asahi and Sapporo beers.
