Eat at Martin’s is tucked away from the main road in Coconut Grove, 10 minutes drive from Darwin’s city centre. It’s popular with locals, ideal for a quick work break and boasts convenient parking right outside of its doors. Martin himself prepares and serves the fabulously healthy and decidedly moreish vegetarian meals. Brekkies, snacks and lunches are the go here. Everything’s made on the premises and the proof is definitely in the eating.

Sit indoors in the cool, colourful cafe or out on the breezy patio. The fresh iced chai is a treat, as is the organic fairtrade Mexican coffee. A vegan salad has never looked so tempting: huge slices of roasted pumpkin, carrot and beetroot top a deep bowl of leafy greens, hummus and olive garnish, a homemade spelt or rye roll sits on the side. Refreshing, tasty and filling. Beetroot curry, sweet potato pie and the vegetarian masala pasties are also winners. Just save room for dessert because the chocolate chickpea cake is spectacular. Decadent, fresh, light in texture, moist, rich, super-dark, absolutely chocolatey…this miracle of healthy cooking is gluten-free and astonishingly low-fat but you’d never know it.

Good food and a nice atmosphere. A real shame that Martin is so rude and unfriendly to the customers during every visit. This restaurant would be fantastic if the owner could be a lot more customer friendly. General staff however are always helpful and friendly.review  07/12/2012

A culinary pleasure for 'mind, body, soul'. If in need of rejuvination on any level, I go straight to Martin's! Fresh produce, caringly prepared, lovely staff, value for money, relaxed space, air-con inside or soothing setting out - you can't go wrong here!review  26/03/2012

I've been once, spoiled and surprised a girlfriend for her birthday, thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be coming back as it's my type of food. Have some intolerances, but food here is excellent and especially scrummy! Surroundings simple, relaxed and comfortable, no fuss or frills.
