This family-run seafood bar offers a great twist on a classic theme – the humble Aussie culinary icon of fish and chips. This is no greasy fish shop churning out deep fried, unidentified somethings. The Chip and Fish bar is a modern and stylish eatery that not only provides fresh and healthy food, but also manages to deliver great value for money.

The fish are all local Top End varieties, and much to the credit of the Chip and Fish, is all wild line caught – something some of the pricier establishments in Darwin cannot boast. As a result the fish, whether you get it battered, grilled or fried, is delicious. The best is of course the barramundi – thick, juicy and full of flavour. The chips are light and crispy, and nothing comes drowning in oil – you will feel satisfied but not stuffed after a visit. There are also a huge variety of freshly made salads and tasty burgers on offer, and the eatery has gained as much renown around town for these as for its locally caught seafood. You can dine in with the locals, but with takeaway available and the Esplanade a five minute walk away, you’re best to venture out with your lunch or dinner and enjoy the stunning seaside views and sunsets that only the Top End can offer.
