Bar Zushi Grill is the latest Casuarina Square counterpart to the award-winning Bar Zushi. With the original Bar Zushi regularly mobbed by locals, this second venue is proving almost as popular with its equally good menu and different (non-sushi-train) serving style. Away from the main food court, Bar Zushi Grill offers simple wooden seating and tables screened off from the bustle of the mall. Chef Dani and staff work industriously behind the bar-style counter where you place your order. The menu is fully illustrated and encompasses classic sushi dishes, nori rolls, hot meals, salads and soups. A range of sweets is also available.

So sit down on those oriental-style low stools and sip a cold drink with ice for starters. A saucer of succulent avocado-stuffed nori rolls is a pleasing appetiser, as is the inside-out smoked salmon and asparagus version. Larger portions are beautifully presented on wooden boards, complete with pickled ginger and wasabi garnishes. Try a fancy roll like the peking duck wrap, flying fish red caviar gunkan or imported jellyfish with sweet iniri (rice wrapped in tofu) or gyoza (steamed dumplings). For a substantial main, there’s a wagyu burger or grilled barramundi with miso marinade. Bar Zushi Grill always uses fresh Australian salmon and kingfish and fresh tuna and barramundi when available. Other seafood is imported.
