Aschara Thai restaurant makes the most of its waterfront setting at Cullen Bay marina. Tables are laid with coloured cloths, flower arrangements and a delightful Asian touch – tea-lights amid bright faux lotus blooms. Relax inside the cool, uncluttered interior or dine alfresco on the deck and watch the clouds catch the sun’s pink hues as it sets over silhouettes of yachts. Order a glass of wine, and soak up what is arguably Darwin’s most romantic dinner spot. By the time you’ve sampled a spicy laksa or crunchy spring rolls, the stars will be pricking the warm night sky, and you’ll want to sit here all evening being spoilt by the attentive, yet unobtrusive, staff.

Aschara Thai offers classic Thai cuisine with a wide range of stir-fries, rice, noodle and curry options. There’s an intriguing salad selection if you prefer to eat something crisp and cool. The minced chicken salad is served on enormous lettuce leaves which perfectly complement the tangy, spicy mixture with its lime, basil and chilli flavours. Another salad special involves tender tofu triangles and mixed vegies in a light peanut sauce. Seafood options are excellent with king prawns, scallops, and filleted or whole fish dishes. Takeaway can be collected or delivered between 6pm and 10pm. Aschara Thai caters for corporate functions, parties, wedding receptions and romantic dinners.
