PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAYou could easily walk straight past this smart little sushi and sashimi bar if it wasn’t for the eye-catching red of the cushioned seats. And, you’ll be glad you didn’t miss it. The chefs at Zushi boast the freshest handmade Japanese delights and the regular Zushists readily back them up. It’s the extras that make this place a worthwhile destination. Jugs of sake sangria – a concoction of sake, lychees, green apple, fresh mint and iced green tea – are great to share with a group of friends. The inside-out roll of tempura prawn and avocado topped with strips of unagi and prawn, finished with crispy noodles and wasabi mayonnaise is one of their signature dishes and aptly named after the restaurant itself. Takeaway, catering and function menus are all part of the Zushi establishment too.
Check out their website which not only displays their menu and opening hours but quaint (and slightly suspicious) elements like the Zushi horoscopes. Sharing sake sangria with a stranger seems a little too specific to be true but, who knows? I’d be willing to give it a go if it meant tucking into some sand whiting tempura with chilli ponzu dipping sauce. Whether it’s a cosmic or a culinary experience you’re after, Zushi has the lot.
