Profiled by de Groots MediaDazzling cocktails, gourmet pizza and a stunning sunset – what more could you want? Tokio Hotel at Cockle Bay Wharf can give themselves three big ticks on this checklist. Part of Home, Sydney’s premier nightclub, the Tokio Hotel was revamped in late 2007 to re-emerge as a casual destination for relaxing by the water, elaborate cocktail at one elbow and a beautifully topped pizza at the other. The menu, which is dedicated to pizza, has been designed by John Lanzafame of Hugo’s Bar Pizza fame, and it reads like a list of the world’s most stylish cities. New York, London, Paris, Rome and, of course, Sydney – it’s all here and ready to be devoured.
Each 10-inch pizza costs $15, but during happy hour, which runs between 5pm and 7pm every day, you can snare your pizza for the princely sum of $7. Grab a cocktail from the special happy hour menu for another $7 and you’ve got yourself a fabulously flavoured slice of heaven. The Bangkok pizza, with its spicy tomato base, chilli prawns, coriander and pickled cucumber teams up deliciously with the refreshing Cucumbersome cocktail. Cool down with a pineapple and kaffir lime sling while you immerse yourself in Mexico City, topped with chilli con carne, jalapeno peppers and guacamole. The dessert pizzas are wonderfully wicked – peaches and cream with honeyed marscapone, double cream and choc chip cookies never looked so good. For relaxed dining and world-class flavours, head straight to Tokio.
