Perhaps grab a story on your way out to the courtyard - the space verdant with towering ferns beneath which umbrellas overshadow mix-and-match tables. Graffitied walls narrate a previous chapter of the building’s life as a youth centre and frame the garden in multicolour.

With a crowd as eclectic as the stories inside, this café is brimming with personality. A few students sit by their laptops drinking large coffees, a woman with her head in a dog-eared book breaks her reading briefly for a quick sip of wine, and a few creatives brainstorm ideas as they spread pita slices with hummus, baba ghanoush and beetroot dips.
