If you've ever shied away from teppanyaki for fear of getting egg on your face, then this is the place for your teppanyaki debut. A decidedly classy establishment, Rocks Teppanyaki is housed within in an 1840s style cottage just a short stroll from Circular Quay. The restaurant is separated into intimate dining rooms, each beautifully appointed with a shiny teppan grill. Every guest has a front row seat for the action as experienced chefs slice and dice the food with gleaming knives and expert skill. Using the freshest available produce and simple sauces, the natural flavours are allowed to shine.
Open for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday and dinner on Saturday & Sunday. The variably priced set menus are the best way to go. For a light lunch choose the Hyuga, which includes a seasonal salad, chicken, grilled vegetables, rice, miso, sorbet and Japanese tea. For dinner, options include meat or seafood menus but if price isn't a factor go all the way with the Tasmanian lobster and steak set menu. It includes soup, sashimi or tempura, salad, lobster, steak, vegetables, rice, miso, green tea ice-cream and Japanese tea. An a la carte menu is also offered, with options such as oysters, tempura and sashimi. The wine list is both extensive and expensive so come prepared to treat yourself.
