With its unrivalled location nestled under the Crowne Plaza Coogee, the revamped Oceans restaurant and bar is the bee’s knees of the Coogee dining scene. The venue has been opened up to let in the light and sea breeze, and tables now spill out onto the walkway to take best advantage of the coastal view. Romancing Coogee-siders with a sexy fit-out that extends the ocean theme from the view and into the interior, Oceans is decked out in aqua hues, rolling lines and a bit of sparkle here and there. Guests can choose between perching at a bar table, lounging on a day bed or seaside alfresco dining and, to cater for any type of outing, the menu is split into three sections.
Sashay in for a sunset tipple and a nibble on a little something from the snack menu, such as ginger salted squid with roast chilli mayonnaise and Peking duck pancakes. A peach and vanilla sidecar or a passionfruit caipirinha are perfect accompaniments for this time of day. The antipasti and seafood platters are an ideal choice if you plan to share with your group. Settle in for a lingering occasion and tuck into prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, pepperoni and Persian fetta, or journey to the East and order the Asian plate which includes prawn wontons and spring rolls. Wood-fired pizzas, with toppings such as chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, brie and avocado, are the tastiest in the suburb and are also terrific for sharing. For a more substantial affair look towards the main menu and decide between seared barramundi served with char-grilled Mediterranean vegetables, wilted spinach and Roma tomato compote, or an Oceans burger compiling of a Wagyu beef patty, bacon, smoked cheddar and topped with peri peri sauce and chunky fries on the side.
