In a world-first collaboration, Japanese high-end restaurant group Zetton has partnered with award-winning designer Yasumichi Morita to fashion the interior of The Ocean Room. It is their first venture on Australian soil – and little expense has been spared in the design process. Morita has a unique design philosophy with a history of innovative designs including installing a merry-go-round in a shoe shop and covering a whole bar in crocodile skin. The design features soaring curved ceilings, a series of port-hole light features inset in the walls, ancient wooden elements and a grand chandelier motif. Ocean Room evokes a sense of old-world grandeur while also providing a glamorous dining space for discerning diners. Ocean Room’s floor to ceiling glass windows capitalize on the restaurant’s stunning location, giving diners spectacular views of Sydney’s iconic harbour.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Inspired by Ocean Room’s waterfront location and drawing on his Japanese heritage, esteemed head chef Raita Noda’s menu challenges traditional interpretations of modern Japanese food. The menu is studded with delicate sashimi and fresh sushi offerings – or diners can choose from the selection of ‘chotto’ (Japanese small plates), including a lightly marinated anchovy with smoked tomato sorbet. To match, the extensive wine list displays a fine balance between local and international varietals that are made available by the glass or bottle. Ocean Room also champions a concise and appealing cocktail list, a cheeky collection of classics with a Japanese twist.

FUNCTIONS
With a seating capacity of up to 150 guests for a sit down function and up to 400 guests for a stand up cocktail event, Ocean Room provides a stunning yet contemporary space for a multitude of special events, corporate functions and other occasions. The Private Dining Room offers guests a snapshot of modern elegance set against the Sydney Opera House and Harbour. It can cater for up to 70 guests for a sit down event and up to 90 guests for a stand up cocktail event.
