You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone in Bondi who does not like this restaurant. In fact, many hold it very dear to their hearts and regularly set foot into its cosy surrounds for a tapas fix. Consequently, Mojo’s is consistently abuzz with the funky tribes of the eastern suburbs, and it always appears that each guest within its midst is having a righteously good time. Dark wooden chairs and tables fill the snug, multi-levelled dining room, and the rustic red walls effuse a warm essence that mingles with the jovial chatter. The predominately Spanish-speaking waitstaff whiz around the floor with piles of terracotta bowls and cocktail top-ups, and while the noise can teeter on raucous, you can’t deny these diners their fun; there’s nothing more festive than a table full of food and carafes full of sangria.

The menu is extensive, but Mojo’s presents the perfect forum for trying a little bit of everything – especially if you’re part of a larger group. Chorizo, in my opinion, is a must in any tapas adventure. Add some haloumi, some meatballs and a plate of garlic prawns and you’re off to a tasty start. The mushrooms are simply yum, and you’ll find the lamb cutlets and the squid get gobbled up very quickly. The fare doesn’t break any culinary boundaries, however it is finger-lickin’ good and there’s a flavour for every palate. Due to its popularity, booking a table is recommended for any day of the week.

Mojo's Tapas Bar and Cafe - User Reviews

Sharking4Chips&Drink:

We visited this cafe as a group recently. The food sufficed but was nothing to write home about. We ordered around 12 dishes between the 4 of us. One of the dishes we ordered was the chilli prawns but instead, we were served garlic prawns. As soon as they were put down in front of us, we alerted the waitress that we ordered chilli prawns and not garlic. She placed the prawns on the table and said "I will go and see what we can do, they will be free". Not hearing back, we ate them. When we asked for the bill - lo and behold the garlic prawns were on the bill. I called over the waitress (lovely girl) over and told her the mix up. She went over to our original waitress and told her of the problem. She then came over to the table and said "I never said they were for free - if you ate them, then you have to pay for them". Astounded at this change of attitude, we asked to speak to the manager. Phillipe came over and in front of a full restaurant of people proceeded to say that we were lying about the waitress saying we could have the dish for free. In the end in order to stop his act we said that if he felt that strongly enough that we did not order but ate the prawns, we would pay for them. Coming from the service industry, a small plate of prawns given away versus having an argument in front of not just the table but the entire restaurant, and alot of bad word behind it – I want to ask ask the manager and owner whether it was all worth it?review  01/07/2011
