La Brasserie

For a setting that is less pretentious than some inner-city fine-dining venues, La Brasserie still competes proudly as one of the best spots in Sydney for awesome French food. Full of flavour and full of tradition, La Brasserie is a top destination for food lovers. 04/08/2011

My wife wanted to try escargot and by brilliant luck, we found ourselves heading to la Brasserie and it proved to be an enchanting experience. The staff, complete with charming French accents, were more than willing to guide us through the menu and ensure that we were made at home. We mused over the menu and picked a great bottle of wine and gave our order. With little wait, we were presented with escargot and charcuterie. Both dishes were splendid, almost beyond belief. We followed this up with two slow cooked options and they melted in our mouths and made us feel so content. La Brasserie is a great French restaurant and I don't think I can promote it highly enough. It is worth going to, whether for a regular indulgence or a special romantic evening of being treated to the best. 14/07/2011

Having google searched for French restaurants in the city who serve escargot, we were directed to la Brasserie. It was everything we hoped for and more. From the doorway, to the music, to the menu – we were reminded of our wonderful time in Paris. The escargot was a first for my wife and I and it exceeded my expectations from friends who have promoted how good they can be. We also had a charcuterie plate as an entrée and shared both dishes. My wife found a wine on the menu – a wine which she had only ever heard of the grapes that are used in the process – and so wanted to see what the hype was all about. It delivered on all levels and we loved every drop. Our main meals were the cassoulet and a goat and couscous dish with some Moroccan flavours. Both very hearty country flavours that made us want more. So mouth-watering and delectable. We had to cut our evening short as our sleeping daughter decided to wake and demand attention and we didn’t want to impose upon the other diners. We will certainly return here when we are next in Sydney; you should make the effort to track this amazing place down too. 12/07/2011
