Step out of manic King St, Newtown and into this frantic busy little restaurant. If you enjoy the head spinning bustle, the intoxicating, exotic aromas of an Asian street food market, then you will love this place. The green neon lights on the front window display give the room an even more authentic night market glow. When you arrive you may wonder where you should go to be seated but just stand in the doorway surrounded by tables run by a gauntlet of waitpersons at the desk at the far end. My husband and I had spied the only empty table to the left of the entrance so we stayed by the doorway to guard it as another couple had arrived momentarily behind us. Each of us had noticed the table and we looked at the other couple as to size up the competition to which I gave the assuring smile with one narrowed eye – suggesting that we didn’t care that the table still had crumbs and sauce from a much-loved curry of the previous occupants; this was our prized table and I was not going to hand it over easily. The other couple quickly admitted defeat and began to scour the room once again for their next best option. We ordered chilli crab and chicken sambal. The chilli crab had a powerful punch of heat and the curry was great with a roti on the side and the sambal was authentic. Best part is the price - definitely recommend. 08/10/2011
