In Situ means “situated in the original or natural position” and one can’t help suspecting that this cafe and bar was always meant to be here. Located down a side alley of the corso, this establishment is the funkiest. The decor is chic with the bar extending the whole length of the room and large light shades emitting red mood lighting. Every night of the week it is host to a number of local acts including hip hop, reggae and funk artists, with the occasional jam night during which patrons are invited to take part and bring their own instruments along.
Famous for their cocktails, happy hour is from 6-8pm Thursday till Sunday and all night on Wednesday. Breakfast is served between 9-3pm with the buttermilk pancakes worth a try or any number of varieties of big greasy breakfasts. For lunch you might sample the tiger prawn salad or for dinner try the flathead. Tapas, such as the lamb skewers with mint and cucumber yoghurt, are a great accompaniment to a cocktail or four. If you want a cosy but cool night out, give In Situ a go.
