PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAInviting visitors with its classic furniture, beautiful architecture and lofty ceilings, Hughenden Cafe Restaurant would make Miss Elizabeth Bennet, Miss Elinor Dashwood and Miss Emma Woodhouse – or just about any other Jane Austen character – feel right at home. The restaurant is housed on the ground floor of a Victorian manor and divided between two rooms, an outside courtyard and terrace. The tables are spaciously set apart in the style of a dining room in a Victorian estate more than a restaurant. Offering guests wonderful privacy, the dining room also boasts a lovely baby grand piano – which enjoys live performances – a marble fireplace, heavy curtains and rustic table and chair settings. However, aside from the furniture there is one other thing that sets Hughenden Cafe Restaurant (and the Hughenden Hotel itself) apart. It is a pet friendly place. Four legged companions are welcome to dine with their owners in the alfresco areas.
No matter how Victorian the decor may appear however, there is nothing old about the modern Australian menu. Transitioning three times a year, it tells a story about what’s in season.
