Gastro Park is a playground for your tastebuds. Chef Grant King, after doing seven years at three-hatted Pier has set up this verdant restaurant that looks onto the shrubbery of the hidden Kings Cross gardens and features every shade from the colour wheel on each plate. The menu is inspired by the day’s best produce with a few signature dishes hanging around such as the crispy scaled snapper with smoked potato puree, calamari crackling and ink sauce. Given a rare 16/20 by Sydney’s food critic king, Terry Durack of The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Living, Durack praised “The cooking is provocative, the ideas stimulating, the execution polished, all wrapped up in a slightly edgy but not uncomfortable modern package… You can write it in neon: Kings Cross has a new pleasure place.”
