PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAThe winds of change have swept through Darlinghurst’s El Mojito restaurant, with new owners, a new chef and a new menu. The restaurant has been around for almost a decade, but will now benefit from a fresh perspective as the new owners jazz up the Darlinghurst digs. Attached to Morgans Boutique Hotel in Victoria Street, El Mojito is an elegantly dressed space perfect for a drink-stop or dinner indulgence. The chic rooftop courtyard, adorned with dark cane seating and white walls, is the ultimate spot for a summer cocktail. The restaurant interior cascades over three levels, its brown banquettes, wooden tables and opulent lamps creating a moody atmosphere. With wide windows opening onto Victoria Street, El Mojito is the perfect destination for a spot of people watching.
Start with one of the 15 styles of mojitos available from the bar, and peruse the brand-new menu of small sharing plates to find your tipple’s perfect match. With a delicious infusion of Mediterranean flavours, and Middle Eastern and Persian influences, El Mojito is a fantastic choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The new chef is also willing to adapt dishes for gluten-intolerant diners. Stop in on a Sunday when the rooftop is open from 12pm, perfect for a graze of the menu and a few lazy afternoon cocktails with some tunes. Cocktail hour keeps the quaffers happy between 5pm and 7pm Tuesday to Saturday. El Mojito is also a fabulous function destination, with a private dining room and courtyard or rooftop available for hire.
