PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIASlick, contemporary bar/restaurants have popped up all over Norton Street. La Fontana manages to be one of the most eye-catching, thanks to a multi-tiered, 70s fountain among the street-facing alfresco tables and a stark white-on-white interior. Cafe meets glossy nightclub glam at this venue: there are shady outdoor tables, glass-fronted coolers stocked with scrumptious cakes and gelatos, and as the evening progresses, the back of the restaurant opens into a big, loungey chill-out space, complete with cushy sofa seats, cube-shaped ottomans, a massive flat-screen TV and plenty of mirrors for discrete perving.
La Fontana has young staff that are a friendly, switched on lot, and regular visits certainly dont go unnoticed. Since, as the staff will demonstrate, it is a social affair, share plates are an important inclusion on the menu.
