Captains Grill @ St. George Motor Boat Club

My family took me there for fathers day yesterday. This place was packed to the rafters, and yes it is a location used for this popular TV show. The food was great, excellent value and the service was olive oil slick! Our waiter was young, energetic and seemed very popular with the girls on our table. 05/09/2011

We went to the motor boat club for a mothers day lunch, we didn’t have a booking so we sat outside on the St Kilda Terrace (lucky it was a nice day!) The meals were lovely. I ordered a slow cooked steak, my mother had a barramundi and my sister had crumbed veal. The club was incredibly busy - they had a buffet lunch, a set menu or casual dining on the terrace. I don’t know how the meals came out so fast and of such high quality. Congratulations. (However, I definitely recommend making a booking as there was quite a wait for tables in the restaurant.) 13/05/2011

Over the weekend I attended a christening held at the Waterfront Function Centre. I believe the caterers for the functions department are the same that run the very busy Captains Grill Restaurant, also located within the St George Motor Boat Club. What a wonderful day we had (parking was difficult, so allow time to find a space!) We arrived at the club and were shown to the Sapphire Room, located downstairs just meters away from the marina. The children were thrilled as there was a park for them to play at right next to the club. The entrees arrived promptly, I had crispy salmon with a delicious balsamic reduction, my partner a vegetarian had a meal specially prepared for her. For mains we had a delicious steak dish and a mushroom arancini. Desserts were a highlight, a smooth panna cotta and a creamy cheesecake. I know where i will be hosting my next event. I highly recommend this establishment. 11/04/2011
