Show me a person who says they don’t like buffet and I’ll show you a liar. It’s not quite how the saying goes, but it does the trick. The fact is, that when it comes to gloriously over-indulging, buffets are extremely effective. And if you are planning to treat yourself, you may as well do it in style. For this reason, among many others, the Shangri-La’s Cafe Mix is a very desirable destination. Having recently received an extensive facelift which transformed its interiors into a picture of breezy sophistication, this spacious restaurant not only offers spectacular views over the city and a wonderful atmosphere, but also the chance to simultaneously feast on four cuisines of the world – Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Western.
Clean, sharp dark brown stations hold a world of tempting options which regularly change to reflect the freshest available produce. The result is a buffet on which sushi rolls sit besides salads and freshly shucked oysters while Indian curries steam away next to Chinese delicacies like stir-fried prawns and Western favourites like roast lamb. And, naturally, there is also a dessert bar complete with homemade gelato and a chocolate fountain. If you can tear yourself away from this liquid temptation, the creme brulee and strawberry mousse cheesecake are not to be missed. And while not a buffet itself, the wine list offers an equally impressive selection and also travels the world – albeit to other regions. However, if you are one of the few people who don’t like buffets, Cafe Mix also offers an a la carte menu. Here you’ll find a selection of healthy lifestyle options like red ruby plum tomato bisque as well as Asian delights like dim sum, tom yum goong and seared snapper fillet with a charmoula crust, baby bok choi, shiitake and ginger broth.
