Brave Cafe - User Reviews

Belinda:

We at Bondi Beach Cruisers would like to thank Brave Café for hosting our Launch event and making it such a successful night. Their professional attitude along with general manager Mark’s desire to help and improve our event was one of the catalysts of the success. From our first meeting of initiating the logistics and planning up to the day of the launch we were very impressed with their efficiency and professionalism. The scope of catering provided was delicious and raved about by our guests, along with the personal service the staff provided. We would be happy to recommend Brave Café for anyone planning a special event.review 03/05/2011

I have eaten breakfast at Brave Cafe for a number of years so I thought I would give dinner there a go when I heard it was coming. The breakfasts at Brave Cafe have always hit the spot for morning meals - doing more than enough to give the fullness sensation while satisfying my tastebuds. I am a big fan of the 'farmer's breakfast' and their number of healthy vegetarian breakfast options, but the herbed potato rosti or hash brown is something to be experienced. Coffee is always great, delivering a hit to the palette and to the caffeine receptors. I digress: back to dinner. I was impressed by the atmosphere on their unofficial 'opening' night and went back there for dinner a second time. Both times I ordered the vegetarian smorgasbord. The food served is fresh yet mature and I really appreciated Brave's commitment to seasonality as this shone through on the plate. The highlights of the dish are the mushrooms in tarragon/white wine sauce - my wife was starting to tire of my incessant 'mmm-ing' after each mouthful and the stuffed goats cheese balls looked good on the plate and tasted even better. The salads and accompaniments, especially the fresh bread, really completed the meal and although i had difficulty fitting it in, the dessert I had - a concoction of berries, a delicate creamy white custard and meringue - was a fitting finish. There was also a good selection of wines and beers to choose from - the wine I had (can't remember its name) went with the meal very nicely. I throroughly enjoyed the meal and the ambience of dinner at Brave Cafe. Score is 9/10 and I can't wait until the renovations are finished there.review 20/03/2011

Brave open for dinner now! So i took the opportunity to dine there. They have a set menu, dinner for two, which they can half if you prefer to dine alone. You are served olives and house made Focaccia which is superb. Truly authentic Italian style. Followed by a Meza style dinner four dishes with three different servings on the main. i chose to have the Pescaterian, which consist of Prawns, Calamari, Greek style salad on the main then three small dishes, one plate sliced tomato with basil, one plate Spanish style roasted vegetables, one plate of potatoes diced small and fried with a tomato base sauce. The calamari was tender, Cut thin with a tempura light batter. perfect! The prawns was ok. Greek salad very nice. The Spanish style vegetables where perfectly roasted and marinated! The small cubed diced fried potato was ok on its own! However the tomato base sauce underneath it was definitely a dish i wouldn't want to try again! Service was responsible for the price. Atmosphere ok. I was told by the waiter they are renovating in the near future! cleanliness was spot on. Music in the background didn't really suit the Mediterranean food. i suggest you don't play reggae. The cafe had a very strong Australian feel to it! Over all i score is a 6/10 including (value for money!)the price was very reasonable! included in my meal i had a vodka lime and soda made nicely long class! bill cost 27$review 23/01/2011
