DETAILS
Bayswater Brasserie has just been voted 4th Best Bar in the World.
"One Aussie bar snuck into the top five and a very desrving venue it is. A multi-award winner in the annual bar awards, (Cocktail Bar of the Year in 2005, Best Drinks Selection in 2006), The Bayz consistently delivers. Since former bar manager Naren Young left for NYC, owner Nigel Lacy, bartender Charles 'Chino' Ainsbury and long-tme manager Leonard Opai have kept up the high standards. Described by the judges as "a bar that's sure of itself" with "well trained staff" and "everything you look for in a great bar - an old building in a slightly raffish street, a fantastic courtyard, a zinc-topped bar and a lovely energy at any hour".

"Walking into this King’s Cross institution is like strolling straight into a Parisian bistro: white-tiled floor, dark wooden fittings and a long, deep bar stacked with every worthy liquor under the sun. If you’re after a stiff drink well made, you’re in the right place. With bartender Naren Young doing the honors, you’re in safe hands".

BAR
"I'm talking with the celebrated author [Frank Moorhouse] over icy-cold martinis in what we both agree is one of Sydneys few true bars, the moody speakeasy at the back of the Bayswater Brasserie. The Bayz serves a peerless martini - just a murmur of vermouth, three olives and a suspicion of orange bitters."
Guy Griffin - Gourmet Traveller November 2005
"The bar out the back of the Bayswater Brasserie is a tiled old-school stronghold of excellence nonetheless, and bartender Naren Young is ever ready to argue the finer points of cocktail lore with fellow beverage tragics."
