PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIAThe friendly boys at Arthur’s know what it takes to make a great pizza. Nothing is more essential than fresh ingredients that are cooked to perfection, but they also recognise that good pizza is nothing without a little Italian character. That’s why at Arthur’s Pizza in the Spot, you’ll find beautiful bases, fresh toppings and a cheeky, fun atmosphere that sets your slice apart. The last bastion of hope in a world of fast food and terrible takeaway, Arthur’s has been a Sydney institution since opening its doors in Paddington in 1970. Now Randwick plays host to its own Mecca of mozzarella that has become the saviour of hungry uni students, pizza-loving families and Italian aficionados.
Quite simply, Arthur’s makes phenomenal pizza, with everything from classic staples to savvy new creations finding their place on the menu. If you are after an old favourite, then there’s a beautiful marinara full of succulent fresh seafood, and a meat-lover’s pizza that would put even the most ravenous carnivore to shame. But it’s the specialities that really set Arthur’s apart. The “Hot Special” is a feisty and fiery take on the traditional pepperoni pizza, while the eponymous “Arthur’s Special” has Randwick diehards turning out in their droves for the pizza that is beyond supreme. Each pizza is immaculately prepared by the chefs and cooked in a conveyor belt-style oven that old Arthur himself introduced to Sydney. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the boys spinning the dough and tossing it like the seasoned professionals that they are. After all, anyone can do pizza, but only Arthur’s can give an old Italian classic a new spin.
