Slip into something more comfortable and step into Aperitif; the little black dress of Kings Cross. What was once a terrace house has been transformed into a slender, elegant parlour adorned with curling wrought iron, chandeliers and red velvet pouffes. Infused with warm, sultry lighting, the scene is set for a sophisticated European soiree that skips the pretentiousness. Drop in for an after work drink and experience the latest in wine drinking technology; the stemless Riedel glass. The chicken liver parfait with cornichons and toast is a heavenly match to the exclusively European wine list. If wine isn’t your thing, perhaps an aperitif, a digestive or a classic cocktail made by the skilful bartender will tickle your fancy.
The staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing wine and food. They will help guide you through the menu to create a delectable spread, starting with an amuse-bouche such as the grilled bread with anchovies. Move on to the hors d’oeuvres and sharing plates and create your own charcuterie plate with such tasty morsels as saucisson sec, duck rillettes, suckling pork and venison and hazelnut terrine. The white bean soup with flakes of summer truffle is poured into individual drinking cups and the chilli prawns are quite honestly the most delicious crustaceans in Sydney. Larger groups may want to by-pass the decision process and order one of the tasting menus which include an assortment of signature delights. Everything is presented beautifully and graciously and continues to do so until 3am, making it an obvious choice for discerning hospitality crews who are keen to kick on. Whether it’s an after work snack, an all night banquet or a post witching hour oyster hit, come in once and you’ll develop a deep-seated passion for Aperitif.
