PROFILED by DEGROOTS MEDIAAbout Life is the kind of place that health junkies love and punters don’t know the difference. Well, perhaps you’d get some idea after walking through the market aisles, but you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a gourmet store rather than an organic one. Aimed at the health conscious who refuse to compromise on taste, About Life offers hot and cold food that isn’t all mung beans and tofu. The kitchen is open from 7am till 3pm daily, with offerings like roasted field mushrooms on sourdough with salsa and pesto for breakfast. Try the corn fritter stack, served with wilted spinach, bacon and creme fraiche.
For lunch the organic burgers really satisfy; choose from a Thai chicken or beef patty (chemical and hormone free) with grilled onion, pickled beetroot, rocket, and peach and date chutney. The pizzas are good too, and available gluten free. There is a special kids menu that’s actually tested on real children, encouraging them to develop good eating habits with tasty and attractive meals. For the adults, there’s a range of juices, smoothies and tonics all designed to make you feel great, as well as organic coffee and hot chocolate. If you’re feeling under the weather you can even consult a naturopath who will help you choose your herbal tea. The perfect place to give your body a little TLC.
