Flint in the Vines' food philosophy is to produce high quality modern European cuisine, sourcing as much seasonal produce as possible from the local area, including their own kitchen garden. The restaurant is ideally situated on the picturesque and historic property, Ollyville, at Shaw Vineyard Estate with a smart yet informal ambiance overlooking the vineyard. It is reminiscent of the great vineyard restaurants from the country regions of France and Italy.

Located just off the Barton Highway, only 25 minutes north of Canberra.

DETAILS
This impressive 700 acre property in the Canberra wine region, is the largest privately owned vineyard holding in the area. The property formerly known as ‘Olleyville’ historically produced some of Australia’s finest wool. Nowadays, some 85 acres (32ha) are planted to vine including Riesling, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz on the property’s most optimal vineyard sites. Located within one of the region’s busiest winery cellar door facilities, the restaurant, operated by ex-Longrain sommelier Jai Dawson has become a Murrumbateman institution since opening in 2005, and in its first year was named ‘Best Restaurant in a Winery’ in the Southern NSW Regional Restaurant & Catering Association’s Awards for Excellence and went on to compete in the National Awards in Melbourne. Ideally situated on the picturesque property with a smart yet informal ambience overlooking the vineyard estate, the restaurant lends itself to the same high quality dining experience that Flint has become renowned.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Flint in the Vines presents innovative seasonal menus, which are inspired by French and Italian flavours. The menu incorporates elements of the Canberra offshoot and maintains a showcase for fresh local and regional produce, utilising the woodfire oven and grill to create dishes that are designed to be shared. The wine list features a well-rounded selection of drops from Shaw Vineyard Estate.

FUNCTIONS
Flint in the Vines is the ideal setting for private functions and weddings with an open plan dining room catering for groups of up to 100 people. The vineyard, rose garden and farmland offer a wide range of options for holding a ceremony and reception as well as presenting superb photo opportunities.

On a spur of the moment decision, I took my grand father and mother to Flint in the Vines for a birthday dinner. On arrival we were given a complimentary glass of sparkling after I mentioned to our attentive waiter that it was my grandpa's birthday... This only set the scene for a fantastic night, accompanied by fantastic food, which just blew my grandparents and myself away!! I highly recommend Flint in the Vines for that special occasion or for just a casual lunch, regardless of the event, I am sure you will have a fantastic time. ... We visited the restaurant on a gorgeous unseasonal warm September day and met with friends and were seated on the terrace with kids in tow. Always a worry when you take the kids, but Flint accommodated us so well. We adults started with a glass of the Shaw bubbly, followed by some fantastic fresh entrees - kingfish Carpaccio with a rosemary vinaigrette, chilli calamari and a soft shell crab special of the day. They were all delicious. It was a Sunday and the kids were playing on the lawn with the dads, so everyone was happy. Pizzas to follow and share with a bottle of the Shaw Riesling was an excellent choice. A few of the blokes had some meat specials of the day and licked their plates clean. You can't go past the pear and gorgonzola pizza. We finished on another high note with a couple of chocolate terrines with bitter orange sauce and a few coffee martinis. Yum. We will definitely go back there again with the kids when they have their live music in summer.review  14/10/2011
