DETAILSHoused inside a heritage sandstone building, it is easy to get lost in the old-world charm of this highland eatery. Wander through the wine cellar rooms at the end of the narrow sandstone corridor, stop to taste some wine, and then head on into the ambient bar for a selection of fine local drops. The main dining room, aptly nick-named the stone room for its beautiful sandstone walls, is a sumptuous space with comfy brown leather lounges, and a grand chateau-style fire place that invites diners to sprawl around its affectionate blaze. The soft lighting creates an unperturbed mood, accentuated by rustic chandeliers that hang elegantly from the ceiling.
FOOD & BEVERAGEThe food on offer is a melange of tasty tapas treats in vegetarian, meat and seafood varieties, using locally-sourced produce where possible. Dine on the likes of eggplant stuffed with pumpkin and cashew coriander pesto or zucchini crusted with parmesan and pine nuts for something light. Follow with decedent beef involtini, which consists of thin strips of beef filled with vintage cheese, asparagus and ham. Seafood dishes include salt and pepper grilled clamari seared with lemon and fresh herbs as well as black lip mussels in a tomato, garlic, chilli and whine sauce, served with bread to soak up all the rich flavours. There is a refined wine list that showcases a spectrum of local drops, and a handful of international varietals.
