Being one of the first settlements in Australia, the old town of Windsor once had convicts shackled in its attics. Whilst the convicts are now gone, the shackles remain in this small town where the banks are still the most grandeur buildings of the village. The most beautiful of them all has now reopened the vault door to the historical site where you can enjoy lunch, dinner, or even just a glass of wine within its beautiful stature. Vault 146 serves Modern Australian dishes that are driven by the local produce of the surrounding fertile land. Fresh seafood is often drawn from the Hawkesbury River while refined steaks are the restaurant’s signature. Diners can even cook their own on a hot rock that sizzles as the centrepiece of the table. Wander upstairs to the Bank Bar to enjoy a red wine amidst its age-old walls, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the spirits of the old convicts who the locals insist still roam the area.
