Carrington Place Restaurant - User Reviews

Erica:

The meal was good and service excellent. Lovely table and so very clean. We were very surprised to walk in and see how lovely it was. We were looked after from the time we walked in, and what a lovely meal. So very tasty - you should try it.review 16/11/2011

We booked in last minute for a late evening meal. First impressions of the dining area were that it was a little cosy. The private dining area has subtle asian tones but is much more inviting than the general dining area. During the meal the dining music was a little loud and too deep, meaning the table next to us who were trying to have a conversation had to almost raise their voices to communicate, which was uncomfortable for both parties! The food itself was average and could be described as average pub food with a hint of flair. We started with a pine nut, pesto and parmesan bread which was just that cooked in the stone hearth. Mains were a 300g scotch fillet and split natural king prawns with a tomato salsa. The steak was a rating of 5/10 dry and only 10% of the steak cooked to medium order served with minimal vegetables and a bowl of chips. The waitress forgot the sauce and brought over a minute amount in a dipping saucer. The 4 prawns were far from a main meal - cooked well but not value for money or hunger! Dessert was a Raspberry cream bread and butter pudding with fresh figs and caramel - this was done well for a bread and butter pudding but if you were expecting hand cooked caramel then think again as it was just ice cream topping caramel which was a little disappointing. The service was far from a great experience. The restaurant manager Laura was great at her job but we were allocated a waitress who was far from attentive and preferred to set dining tables around us for the next day instead of clean away our dirty plates (11mins on the clock for them to be cleared) and we had to ask for a dessert menu and also get up from our table to pay. I think that my overall rating would be a 6.5/10, I had high hopes for this venue but was a little bitter about the overall value for money and the service. $150 for pub food isnt what I had in mind.review 16/04/2011
