Classic red-and-white checked table cloths, a menu inspired by recipes that have been passed down through the generations and sharp, warm service is what you can expect at Santa Lucia Trattoria in Mawson. Caterina and Francesco Catanzariti came to Canberra from Calabria in 1956, bringing their Italian passion for fine food.

We always loved the old restaurant in Kingston and ate there many, many times over the years. We were so excited to discover they had reopened in Swinger Hill and I organised a dinner for my mother's 80th birthday there. The food was not up to the standard it used to be and we were packed in like sardines. It was an uncomfortable night for all of us and as I was next to the wall I couldn't even consider trying to squeeze out to go to the loo. While we were there we told the manager that it was my mother's birthday and they forgot to play Happy Birthday for her - all in all a great disappointment on a very special occasion. review 20/01/2012

Excellent family restaurant! Friendly staff, fantastic food! Big serves and reasonable pricing! Whenever we want Italian, this is the restaurant we come to - they also offer take away and delivery! It is delicious! Great atmosphere and a nice setting! Great for every occasion! HIGHLY recommend!! review 26/07/2011
