PROFILED BY DEGROOTS MEDIAStep into the Parlour Wine Room and you enter another time and place. A world of gentlemen's clubs, the Charleston, fine cigars and talk of the empire. A world of the Hindenburg, the first cross-Atlantic flights and the steam train. In the elegant interior of the Parlour Wine Room these moments live again. Designed to cater to the smart set of Canberra, those in the know can be found here any night of the week. Remaining open late for night-owls or those who've just been to the theatre, Parlour Wine Room serves drinks, tapas and dessert all day and night.
With over 120 different wines from Australia and beyond, as well as an extensive cocktail menu, Parlour Wine Room is the perfect place for a relaxing beverage. Warm up with a hot toddy made with cinnamon and other exotic spices or chill out with a dirty martini or classic Manhattan. The staff at Parlour Wine Room will even whip up a cocktail of your own devising on the spot. Of course, there is more to Parlour Wine Room than just fabulous drinks – the tapas will please just as surely. With a definite Iberian flavour, the tapas are best shared and can also be ordered as part of a set menu for groups of 10 or more. They range from the simple garbanzos (crispy fried chickpeas) to the complex codornices (pan-seared quail wrapped in prosciutto and sage with an almond skordalia). Finish the night off with a sweet midnight snack like the chocolate fondue – for those who like to share – or the flourless orange cake, served with cinnamon and almond ice-cream – for those who don't.
