But while people often find the decor questionable, it is this element that makes these restaurants nearly always comfortable. This homey quality combines with Indian hospitality at Indian Affair. Owner Gary Singh possesses a bonhomie that is welcoming and gracious, and a business ethic that stems from Mahatma Gandhi himself – Indian Affair boasts customer orientation as its driving principle. But alas, for those who haven’t heard of Indian Affair perhaps a little background will bring you up to speed.
This little family-owned restaurant has achieved big things in the ten years since it opened and the plaudits look set to continue into the next decade. Having been runner up for three years straight, Indian Affair achieved the Restaurant and Caterer’s Award for Excellence in the ACT/Southern NSW, not to mention an overall second place in the Australia-wide Indian restaurant stake. Awards aside, the fare certainly matches the warmth of its atmosphere. A vast selection of mild, medium and spicy curries including vegetarian options are guaranteed to please even the fussiest of eaters. Granted this is not a difficult task, as simply-Indian restaurants never fail to please a gourmand, yet it is in the embellishments that Indian Affair stands up. Perfectly cooked and generously portioned samosas, tandoori meats, rice and naan breads are highly recommended to accompany any lunch or dinner here. With this in mind it might be more feasible to indulge in a banquet and experience the full extent of Indian hospitality.
