LOCATIONIn the heart of Manuka.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIALocated in the building that formerly housed Mistress, Golden Dragon is undoubtedly one of the most aesthetically pleasing venues in Manuka. With warm red walls and ambient lighting, the restaurant is at once elegant and inviting. Golden Dragon is cleverly designed in that the rear of the house is divided into more private and secluded areas, perfect for large dining parties. In the main area, diners won’t help but notice the tanks, as indeed the restaurant offers the only live seafood in the Inner South. There are lobsters, crabs and barramundi available, all prepared to the customers’ desire making this a very popular choice for those wishing to impress or woo their dinner dates.
The menu at Golden Dragon is a refreshing mix of familiar dishes and more adventurous choices. On the more familiar end of the scale, the chilli beef and Mongolian lamb are both very popular and a step up from the renditions offered at many other eateries in town. On the opposite end of the spectrum, gourmands will delight at selections such as jelly fish salad or the incredibly intriguing eight treasure duck; a combination of duck and a variety of Chinese specialties. There is also a good take-away menu and an early bird discount of 10% is sure to interest many. Lazy Susans are ready for large dining parties and Golden Dragon offers plenty of table space for anyone who wants to go with a banquet option. These are made to order at the restaurant and patrons are strongly encouraged to call in advance to see what can be arranged to best suit their needs. Golden Dragon may be new on the Manuka scene, but with its interesting and varied menu and sleek appeal, it will no doubt become a fast favourite of many Canberrans.
