Beess & Co. has been part of the Yarralumla scene for many years now. Its popularity is easily explained – high quality, tasty food and some of the best coffee you can find in Canberra, in a serene, pretty suburb away from the hassles of Civic or Manuka. Open from 7am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, the cafe focuses on both breakfast and lunch, in addition to which there is a huge range of cakes, muffins and slices to accompany coffee at any time of the day.

The breakfast menu at Beess and Co. boasts a large variety of choices and has the added benefit of using free-range eggs and offering gluten-free bread. On the menu are plenty of options to suit anyone in the mood for an indulgent treat. For example toasted brioche with caramelised pears and mascarpone, potato rosti or Spanish omelette with chorizo and baby spinach. On the other hand, those who prefer to start the day with something lighter will appreciate options such as the Asian egg white omelette with wakame and snow pea sprouts or mushrooms, lemon thyme and cracked pepper on toast. Likewise, the lunch menu (available from 11.30am to 3pm) contains a mixture of hearty and light choices. Substantial options include the daily fish special and a variety of meat dishes including a Moroccan-spiced lamb back strap on grilled polenta with roast capsicum sauce. Lighter choices present a range of cafe standards such as soups, salads and gourmet sandwiches, as well as interesting dishes like bruschetta of prosciutto-wrapped haloumi with raspberry balsamic vinaigrette. In short, Beess and Co. is set in a lovely location where parking is easy and free and the quality of the food and service on offer is on par with any other cafe in Canberra.
